Travelling in Finland in middle August besides the spledid sunsets it can reserve you beautiful surprises like the magic atmosphere of Luosto Classic.
It was some days earlier the event took place but we had the pleasure to meet the famous pianist Martti Rautio, rehearsing at the Santa’s Hotel Aurora. Here’s Martti Rautio playing Fredrick Chopin Mazurka in B Minor Op.33 No.4
Martti Rautio – In the space of 30 years, Martti Rautio has given more than a thousand concerts, nowadays at a rate of about 50 a year. His concert tours have taken him all over Europe and, for example, to Japan. At home in Finland he has been the soloist with many orchestras, such as the Finnish Radio Symphony, the Helsinki Philharmonic and the Tapiola Sinfonietta.
Martti Rautio has performed a large volume of contemporary music and premiered works dedicated to him by Einar Englund, Einojuhani Rautavaara and others. He has recorded widely for the Finnish Broadcasting Company (Yle) and released discs on the Fuga, Finlandia and Festivo Records labels. In 1999, he founded the Kemiönsaari Music Festival with violinist Katinka Korkeala and was its Artistic Director for nine years.
A former pupil of Izumi Tateno at the Sibelius Academy, Martti Rautio is now a lecturer there in chamber music.
