‘NONNO ANGELO raccontava… così!’ is the revised version in Italian with fronted Sicilian Palermitan text of ‘NANNU ANCILU cuntava… accusì!
The writing was an experiment strongly desired by the afterlife, in memory of afternoons spent during my childhood listening to stories typical or invented on the spot by my fantastic grandfather, always cheerful and jovial who loved to have us sit around.
On summer afternoons when he returned at sunset, refreshed from his country work he would sit on a stuffed chair and begin his tales that invariably ended with a “narrative ellipsis,” because the main characters needed time to travel or perform an action that required the historical pause, typical of endless serialized tales. The book consists of reworkings of famous traditional stories and unpublished tales based on anecdotes or events that emphasise the human and social values of the time.
As never before, the presence of the narrator’s voice in the interactive version exerted the fascinating power to re-establish the atmospheric creative vision of the moment that was.
